For my use, I've actually bought a package of points from them even through every single one of my runs so far has been under 250 pts, just because I think it's fair to support them if I'm actually using, rather than just learning with, their output.
The costs over 250 points are very reasonable. Jobs which "price out" at <250 points are free, which is intended to help you learn the service on a small-scale before paying, but ends up covering many small recreational jobs fully. WebODM is great, but it's a significant commitment of time to install and learn to use it. You can try again or build it up in sections, but it's no fun when you've managed to stitch your 80 images into 6 Tetris pieces and ICE resolutely refuses for some reason to stitch those together any further! However, when you have lots of images, or even just a few but there was some little glitch, it sometimes chokes. You could then manually georeference the output in QGIS and have a simple, free good-enough solution.
My use is primarily recreational, on some natural vacant land we/friends own.Īs others have said, Microsoft ICE is a decent free solution for stitching photos.
